Summer nights in Sacramento have never tasted cooler, as city dwellers crave a bite and a pint as the Delta breeze soothes midtown. Starting July 1, Federalist Public House will stay open until 2 a.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. After a sweaty night of dancing nearby at Press Club or Faces, Federalist is the perfect spot to refresh or refuel.

Tucked into a series of shipping containers that house the city’s funkiest restaurant space, Federalist will also debut a by-the-slice pizza program that caters to the after-hours crowd. At just $5 a slice, this late night pizza tastes great even when you’re sober.

Federalist’s pizzas specialize in choice ingredients such as Buffalo Mozzarella cheese on its Margherita pizza, an organic house sauce made from crushed San Marzano tomatoes and cured meats from Fra’ Mani Handcrafted Foods. The cold-fermented sourdough crust transforms into a chewy and pleasingly charred “leopard spotted” texture as the pizzas cook in Federalist’s wood-fired oven. No worries here about waking up with a grease hangover.

Federalist’s late-night menu will also include such refreshing new items as an arugula and quinoa salad, and a house salad to cap the evening with a fresh and filling kick.

Situated in a lively and accessible alley space, late summer nights will thrive at Federalist with rounds of bocce ball, noshing on pizza and ice cream sandwiches, and just a place to hang with friends while basking in Sacramento’s summer breeze.
